Liquid Gold Awards from the Whisky Bible

Liquid Gold Awards from the Whisky Bible

As well as a huge win for our Macallan, 7 (seven!) more Boutique-y whiskies have received Liquid Gold Awards for scores of 94 Points or higher in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2017!

Following on from yesterday's announcement that our Macallan 25 Year Old was named Scotch Single Malt of the Year (Single Cask), we once again find ourselves bursting with pride as Jim Murray has considered another seven of our whiskies to be "Liquid Gold".

Macallan 25 Year Old - 97 Points Scotch Single Malt of the Year (Single Cask)

"Am I nosing the first Macallan 25 I tasted over 30 years ago...? ...So good I could weep."

Lagavulin 10 Year Old - 96.5 Points

"a near perfect Islay nose... gorgeous weight... a great whisky from a great distillery plucked at just the right age (indeed, being surprisingly youthful) and in all its naked beauty. Sublime."

Paul John Batch 1 - 95 Points

"the smoke, through serious maturation, has now moved into a stunning structured herbal nature with lavender and mint... such a brilliant mouth feel... a sublime peated malt from India."

Glenburgie Batch 2 - 94.5 Points

"marries a winning freshness with deeper, oak-stoked anchor. Salty, malty and teasing... sublime delivery... pretty much faultless, top grade blending malt: quite irresistible!"

Lagavulin Batch 1 - 94.5 Points

"oh, what a sensational delivery: the texture is silk with some spicy pins sticking out of it... a very rare chance to grab a Lagavulin with kindergarten characteristics... Beautifully made and a genuine treat of a dram."

Heaven Hill Batch 1 - 94 Points

"now that's what I call bourbon! Travel back 30 years and taste some Heaven Hill, and - though a different distillery - you wouldn't be too far off! This bottling does the HH name proud!"

Highland Park Batch 3 - 94 Points

"what do you know? ...Deft peat, heather-honey... and spice. It has to be..."

Cambus Batch 1 - 94 Points

"sharp and robust, we are heading into Canadian territory here... superb oils... oh, those darling spices... a brilliant bottling"

Our whiskies are available from a bunch of fine retailers. Off-trade/on-trade enquiries should be directed to our UK distributor, Maverick Drinks.

The Interdimensional Boilermaker

The Interdimensional Boilermaker

We’ve got a brand new batch of Macduff single malt, and let you in on a secret about one of Shakespeare’s most notorious plays.

Today we’re very happy to show you our latest batch of Macduff - now with an age statement! This one is an 11 year old single malt boasting notes of apricot-filled pastries and spoonfuls of honey. If you look at the label, you’ll once again see a deleted scene one of Shakespeare’s rather violent plays (though perhaps not quite as violent as Titus Andronicus - ooh, get us with our clever references and that).

Macduff is enjoying a Boilermaker with a pretty confused-looking chap, discussing his plans for later in the evening. You might be surprised to see what beer Macduff is enjoying his dram of Macduff whisky alongside. How did he get his hands on that?! Three simple words: Interdimensional Phase Shifting (OK, maybe we should have said one fairly complicated word and two somewhat more straightforward words). Macduff is able to travel to other fictional universes, swipe what he wants and bring it back to his world. However, this didn’t have any influence on the rest of the story, so Shakespeare decided to leave this scene on the cutting room floor.

Our bottling of 11 year old Macduff will be available from fine retailers soon. Off-trade/on-trade enquiries should be directed to our UK distributor, Maverick Drinks.
