Founded in 2000, Penderyn was the first whisky distillery built in the UK outside of Scotland fo over 100 years.
Unique ‘Faraday’ stills processes the entire distillation procedure, from wash to to new make in just one still. New make spirit is taken off the still at 92% abv. The resultant spirit is very light, and clean.
The release comes from a single STR Cask - ‘The mark of the Swan’ STR refers to a specific formula for the Shaving, Toasting and Re-Charring of Red Wine Hogsheads – A creation of the late Dr Jim Swan, that releases tons of flavour, and create a charcoal filter between the spirit and the cask which draws out impurities.
Outturn of this release: Just 433 bottles at 50% abv
Nose
An elegant, sweet nose, with vanilla, fresh grasses, apricots and wild strawberries
Palate
Sweet and fruity; Chinese peach apricot, grape juice, with some vanilla sponge cake too.

Our label simply shows a recreation of their unique still set up
The artist’s hand is holding a beautiful red pencil with the texture of dragon scales, symbolising the red dragon on the Welsh flag.
Notice the signet ring with a swan on it? It’s a nod to both their Welsh Gold logo, and the late Dr. Jim Swan who was consulted on the original setup of the distillery.
