ABOUT THIS BOTTLING
An 13 Year Old Single Malt from another undisclosed Islay distillery, with a good licking of Oloroso cask maturation. It’s a release of just 255 bottles at 47.8% abv.
There’s a long held belief that when an Islay single malt is unnamed, it’s always Caol Ila! This is simply because Caol Ila is the largest distillery on the island, and produces almost double that of the next largest distillery, Laphroaig. However, we now have four unnamed Islay releases, and several of them are obvious with the clues on the label. You might recognise this label as it’s rather similar to both our Laphroiag and WIlliamson label - Spooky!
We’ve illegally downloaded this whisky and cannot name it, but with 8 distilleries on Islay, can you tell which one it is?
NOSE
Lots of smoky aromas with a mentholic tinge. An underlying fruity sweetness too; rum soaked raisins, and there’s a Mocha coffee note too
TASTE
Sweet and smoky flavours fill the mouth but there’s also rich red fruit; Plums and blackberry jam. Burnt buttered toast with lingering smoke.
