A short number of years ago some friends who shared a passion for whisky went on a summer holiday to the famous Scottish whisky island of Islay. There they stumbled upon a message in a bottle, written some 58 years earlier, which had been washed up on the shore. It contained eerily accurate details relevant to the present day and led our friends to the famous Laphroaig distillery where they had to test their mettle, their palates, their knowledge of whisky and their knowledge of 1980s sci-fi movie films against a number of worthy adversaries. These friends, known as Jon and Mike from LivingRoom Whisky, ultimately emerged victorious and all glory was theirs. Meanwhile, back in this possible future, they've appeared on this bottle. As unlikely as it may seem, all that we've told is true.
Tasting notes:
Nose: Peppery initially, followed by soft fruits; peach and apricot. A hint of TCP, and earthy peat too
Palate: Sweet and fruity with a good pinch of salt. The expected medicinal peat notes follow, this is gently spiced too
Finish: Salty crackers, and soft smoke that lingers
