Now widely referred to as Lochranza (1995) as the Isle of Arran Distillers now operates two sites on the island (Lagg, 2019), Arran single malt is made on the largest island in the Firth of Clyde and was the first legal distillery on Arran since 1837.
Expect a sophisticated and complex Arran here. The combination of the distillery's character, extended maturation, and sherry cask influence has resulted in a whisky with a harmonious balance of rich fruitiness, sweet indulgence, and oak-driven complexity. It's a whisky that might be appreciated by those who enjoy well-aged and lightly sherried expressions.
NOSE
Fresh, and complex. With notes of pain au raisin, raisin cake dough, panettone, honeysuckle blossom, creamy vanilla custard.
Delightful!
TASTE
Just perfect. Creamy and beautifully balanced. Barley, raisins, more pain au raisin too. The finish is long, citrusy and herbal.
Magnificent!
ABOUT THE LABEL
Divine Intervention - Judaism has the Book of Daniel; Christianity has the Book of Revelation; Islam has the coming of the Mahdi… The stories and their interpretations vary widely, but the underlying concept is similar: An all-powerful deity intervenes in the world, bringing history to an end, ushering in a new moral order. All before breakfast.
