Blended Scotch Whisky
Blended Whisky #3 Batch 2, 26 Year Old - A blend of long-aged malts and grains, the youngest of which will be 26 years old. Outturn 460 bottles 45.2% abv rrp £109.95
N: Complex. Dark fruit notes; figs, plums, dried cherries. Caramel, sweet and light wood smoke. Hints of overripe orchard fruits and Christmas spices.
P: Sweet and silky. Deliciously chocolate-y, with dried fruit, sweet honey, coffee, and woody anise. As hinted in the label, the finish lingers, and lingers…with the gentle wood smoke drifting away.
Single Grain
Invergordon Batch 22, 25 Year Old - A single grain from one of our favourite grain distilleries, distilled in April 1991, and aged for a quarter of a century. Outturn 340 bottles 55.5% abv rrp £69.95
N: Toasted brown bread, sweet Demerara fudge, Digestive biscuits, woody spices and hints of milk chocolate and candied citrus peel.
P: Sweet creamy coffee, salted caramel, vanilla custard, and woody spices. The sweetened coffee notes fade to leave lingering woody spices.
Speyside
Craigellachie Batch 14, 13 Year Old - Our love for big, spicy and fruit Craigellachies should be no surprise after 13 batches, and batch 14 is another crowd pleaser. Outturn 446 bottles 49.5% abv rrp £54.95
N: Big and fruity! Stewed plums, sauteed peaches,raspberries, toffee apples. Spicy too with cinnamon and a prickle of chilli pepper
P: The fruit continues with juicy plums, subtle orchard flavours mixed with Wrigley's juicyfruit gum, barley sugars and a slight flinty, herbaceous note.
Glen Elgin Batch 7, 16 Year Old - Glen Elgin is one of Boutique-y Dave’s favourite distilleries and they can do no wrong in his eyes! This 16 Year Old was distilled in April 2006, and matured in a Sherry Hogshead . Outturn 408 bottles 55.5% abv rrp £59.95
N: Fragrant and floral. Rose petals and orange blossom. Pain au Raisin, fruit and nut milk chocolate, with hints of dried mixed herbs too.
P: Sweet and fruity. Fresh plums, candied lemon peel, runny honey, finishing spicy with some chilli chocolate heat.
Speyside #4 Batch 1, 24 Year Old - A cracking 24 Year Old Single Malt from an undisclosed Speyside distillery at a very attractive price!. Outturn 3,589 bottles 47.8% abv rrp £79.95
N: Honeyed oak and baking spices. Lots of cereal notes with fresh juicy apple and a subtle caramel aroma.
P: The apple really comes through on the palate, followed by warming spices, honeysuckle, a nutty oiliness and more of those cereal notes.
Highlands
Macduff Batch 9, 21 Year Old - A bottling from a vatting of three casks, hogsheads and a butt distilled in October 1997. . Outturn 1,733 bottles 51.0% abv rrp £119.95
N: Stewed plums and a sprinkle of cinnamon at first, followed by punchier tropical fruit aromas. There’s pear drops and fizzy pineapple cubes too.
P: Smooth honey sweetness, with more of those tropical fruit flavours coming through with time.
Islay
Caol Ila Batch 22, 6 Year Old - This one is a marriage of casks, the youngest of which we’ve had finishing in Moscatel octaves. Once blended with whisky twice it’s age, we discovered a flavour that blew our minds. Outturn 260 bottles 54.1% abv rrp £49.95
N: Smoky BBQ sauce, both sweet fruits, and savoury at the same time. More familiar beach driftwood follows. Briney with some earthy heather and a hint of wild thyme too
P: Sweet fruits; Hints of candied strawberry alongside charred lemon. Charred wood smoke starts to build, turning ashy in the salty finish. Glugable!
