Yet another brand new label, for our first ever batch from the Finnish distillery, Kyrö. This is a 100% whole grain malted rye, that went into a new American oak cask for two years before being re-racked into a first fill bourbon barrel for the remainder of its maturation.
It seems like every Finnish whisky distillery starts life in a sauna, and Kyrö is no different! Surprisingly, the idea of starting their own distillery still seemed like a good one the following morning and from there, the journey of Kyrö began.
You’ll probably recognise where we took our inspiration for our Kyrö label, as it’s a picture they’ve used a few times before. We’ve just boutiquey-fied it it a little. The founders of Kyrö are in a rye field running towards their distillery.
Nose
Vanilla creams, caramel, chalk dust, dried apricot, rye bread dough earthiness, fresh rain on dry ground; petrichor.
Palate
Sweet, malty, toasted rye bread, earthy honey, red berry fruit notes. Hints of coffee linger in the finish. Spectacular!
About the Label

The founders of Kyrö are in a rye field running towards the distillery, through the ‘Rye World’ gate at the edge of the field, and there seems to be some of our Boutique-y velociraptors chasing them - will they make it back to safety?
