A Champion for our first batch of Cameronbridge

A Champion for our first batch of Cameronbridge

Congratulations to tiddlywinks icon Dr. Patrick Barrie, who not only won the National Singles Competition, but also regained the World Singles Title over the weekend,

At the beginning of the month, we launched our first ever batch from the Cameronbridge Distillery and announced our sponsorship of seven-time Tiddlywinks World Singles Champion, Dr. Patrick Barrie. As luck would have it, the good doctor was getting ready to compete in the National Singles Competition at the time,  which was to be held at Downing College, Cambridge on 22-23 April 2017.

Earlier this week, we received some exciting correspondence from Dr. Barrie.

Over the weekend, I was able to play a World Singles challenge match against Larry Kahn, the top American tiddlywinks player. (Possibly) inspired by the whisky connection, I won by a 25-17 scoreline to regain the World Singles title. So I'm now a world champion again :-)”

“Also over the weekend, I won the National Singles title again. A certain amount of luck was involved, but I'm a happy bunny.”

Dr. Patrick Barrie, the face of our Cameronbridge Single Grain, is now an eight-time Tiddlywinks World Singles Champion. It looks like our toast to Dr. Barrie’s efforts may have been instrumental in aligning the winks for this victory!

This champion single grain is available from fine retailers now. Off-trade/on-trade enquiries should be directed to our UK distributor, Maverick Drinks.

Tiddlywinks & Cameronbridge, like a Squidger* & a Wink!

Tiddlywinks & Cameronbridge, like a Squidger* & a Wink!

Introducing our first batch of Single Grain Scotch Whisky from Cameronbridge, sponsoring the UK’s seven-time Tiddlywinks World Singles Champion Dr. Patrick Barrie!

The world is full of photoshopped celebrities promoting unfeasibly priced products. Modern ambassadorial marketing is simply not cricket! We want to find honest, real people who are passionate about their sport in a way that reflects our approach to whisky. Hiring a professional sportsman with their bouffant hair, hipster tattoos, and a fake tan is just not us, so it gives us enormous pleasure to announce our sponsorship of seven-time Tiddlywinks World Singles Champion, Dr. Patrick Barrie (also of Cambridge University’s Department of Chemical Engineering fame) in the National Singles Competition being held at Downing College, Cambridge on 22-23 April 2017.

Our first ever batch from the Cameronbridge Grain Distillery is a 24 Year Old, and a limited release of just 211 bottles. It's a soft, and gentle single grain, with notes of icing sugar, runny honey and rich golden syrup on the nose, while waves of vanilla, fresh pencil shavings and a gentle peppery spiciness come across on the palate.

Join us with our Tiddlywinks Toast to Dr. Barrie's bid to represent the United Kingdom in the next World Championship!

May your Carnovskys** be many, your Scrunges*** few, and when the Tiddlies are counted may you be crowned champion anew!

This cracker**** will be available from fine retailers soon. Off-trade/on-trade enquiries should be directed to our UK distributor, Maverick Drinks.

* Squidger: the disk used to shoot the winks towards to pot or indeed your opponent's winks
** Carnovsky: a successful pot from the baseline
*** Scrunge: to bounce out of the pot
**** Cracker: a shot that knocks one wink off the top of another while simultaneously squopping**** it
***** Squop: when you tactically land your wink on top of another wink to stop it being played

It's Raining Grain in more ways than one, Hallelujah!

It's Raining Grain in more ways than one, Hallelujah!

We've got three new releases to wave our flag about today, and waving our flag is exactly what we're doing right now. Can you see us? We're giddy with excitement with these new batches; Two Single Grains, and a Single Malt from a long closed Islay distillery, but it'll be raining grain at all three sites right now.

Port Ellen is sadly no longer a working distillery, it closed in 1983. However it'll still be raining grain there as its maltings, opened in 1974, remains in operation. It now supplies the majority of Islay's Distilleries with their requirements, produced to their exact specifications. Our sixth batch is a 33 Year Old, bottled at 47.5% abv with just 250 bottles filled. It has everything you'd expect from this legendary distillery, including the earthy smoke that seems to last for an eternity.

We've got two new single grains to announce too. Our third batch from the Girvan Distillery is a 53 Year Old, which is very old. It's almost as old as the distillery itself, as spirit only started flowing at this Ayrshire dsitillery on Christmas Day 1963, which is an odd day to start work. There are just 278 bottles at 41.5% abv from this release.

We're onto Batch 13 from the Invergordon Distillery, and whilst the number 13 is considered to be unlucky for some, there'll be 453 lucky whisky fans who'll be able to grab a bottle of this gorgeous grain. Bottled at 49.6% abv this is a real sweetie, with notes of Demerara sugar, and sawn hardwood on the nose.

This trio of tempting treats will be available from fine retailers soon. Off-trade/on-trade enquiries should be directed to our UK distributor, Maverick Drinks.
