ABOUT THIS BOTTLING
This is our third release from the Armorik Distillery, and this 8 Year Old single malt has been finished in an ex-Chouchen cask, and bottled at natural cask strength.
Historically Distillerie Warenghem produced a range of fruit & plant liqueurs, and Chouchen, which has long been a popular drink in Brittany.
Chouchen is native to Brittany. It’s a form of mead, and is made from the fermentation of honey in water. Traditionally, buckwheat honey is used, and the fermentation process begins with the addition of freshly pressed apple juice.
As France’s first EVER whisky distillery, Armorik married traditional scotch production with a few years of experimentation. Then, they reached out to Dr Jim Swan who reviewed their equipment and techniques, proposing a series of small changes like adjusting the angle of the lyne arm
NOSE
Rich caramelised orchard fruits, baking spices; nutmeg, black pepper and a hint of cinnamon, with a charred wood, and a honey sweetness.

TASTE
Big and bold! A honeyed sweetness, balanced by rich oak spices. Baked apples charred oak, oiled leather, with hints of ginger. Long spicy finish.

ABOUT THE LABEL
The Veneti (Gaulish: "the kin, the friendly ones") were a Gaelic tribe who lived in Armorica, now known as Brittany.
We’ve set the scene deep in the forest of Gaul with a still for the cauldron and fields of barley in the background.
The white swan is a nod to the late Dr. Jim Swan who gave the distillery guidance, reviewing their equipment, and techniques, proposing a series of small changes.
