Whisky, whiskey, or perhaps Swissky when it comes from the land of watches, chocolate, and fondue?
Our Langatun has been distilled from malted barley smoked using birch wood during the kilning process.
It’s been mature in an ex-Chateauneuf du Pape cask too…
Langatun have a very long history of brewing and distillation going back to the 1850. Hans Baumberger, great grandson of the founder, Jakob, decided to restart whisky distillation in 2007. The current owners, Christian Lauper and Dr Dolf Stockhausen have invested to meet increasing demand.
NOSE
Delicate. Sweet green grapes, green melon, and candyfloss, birchwood sap, chamois leather fragrant sandalwood, and a subtle, sandy, earthiness. Delightful!
TASTE
Gentle, light, with fresh malt, green grapes, sweet birchwood wine, melon, summer meadow.
So moreish!
ABOUT THE LABEL
Our Langatun label has been zoomed in to focus more clearly on the area where all of the events in this whisky life occurred.
Oak from the Limousin forests of central France were made into casks that were used for the production of Chateauneuf du Pape wine. The empty cask was then sent to Switzerland for whisky maturation, before being shipped to us in Kent!
