The first known written mention of Scotch whisky comes from 1495, when King James IV gave “eight bolls of malt” to a chap called Friar John “to make aqua vitae”. Now, if he’d decided to mothball his still and had set to work right then and there with a rotovap, working day and night without taking holiday right up until 2016, do you know how much spirit he would have produced in total? About as much as Girvan produces in a single day!
Tasting notes:
Nose: Coconut mushrooms, creamy fudge, polished wood, and a hint of clove oil
Palate: Sweet and creamy with toasted coconut, icing sugar, followed by spiced vanilla with clove and cinnamon
Finish: Sugared Almonds, clove oil, and delightfully delicious
