When Penderyn began producing whisky in 2000 it was the first Welsh distillery in over 100 years, and predates the first English whisky distillery by some six years.
Our Penderyn hails from a Ruby Port Hogshead laid down in October 2006
A unique type of still, developed by David Faraday specifically for Penderyn, differs from traditional Scottish and Irish distillers. The Faraday Still processes the entire distillation procedure, from wash to to new make in just one still.
It’s a column/pot still hybrid, essentially a pot still stacked with two columns. The first distillation happens in the pot, the spirit is then purified in the two columns. The new make is taken from the 7th plate of the second column, at a whopping 92% abv. The resultant spirit is very light, and clean.
NOSE
