Terrific and Scientific!

Terrific and Scientific!

Presenting our first batch of Strathclyde and a new batch of our Blended Malt #2!

Two new treats for your Tuesday, including the first batch of a rather terrific single grain with a science-y label and a new batch of our Blended Malt #2 - which also has a somewhat science-y label! Coincidence? Do scientists even believe in coincidence?! A question for the ages…

Anyway, here’s our very first bottling of single grain Scotch whisky from the Strathclyde distillery in Glasgow! For batch one, we got our hands of a 30 year old whisky to bottle, and it’s a deliciously buttery, caramel-y bundle of excellence. Now, taking a look at the label you’ll see see a lot of words that sound made up, like ‘hydroxymethylfurfural’ and ‘methoxyeugenol’. Never fear, though, as you’ll also find a quote from one of the greatest thinkers of our time at the bottom of the label too which sums everything up very astutely…

As mentioned, we’ve also got the newest batch of our Blended Malt #2 ready for your enjoyment! It’s Batch 3, and the youngest whisky used in the blend was 18 years old. On the label you’ll find a selection of graduated cylinders - if you’re not dazzled by someone who has an impressive collection of graduated cylinders as well as conical flasks and test tubes and the like, you probably shouldn’t visit TBWCHQ.

These beauties are available from fine retailers now. Off-trade/on-trade enquiries should be directed to our UK distributor, Maverick Drinks.

That Boutique-y Whisky Company on the Ones and Twos!

That Boutique-y Whisky Company on the Ones and Twos!

Only Batch 1s and Batch 2s in today’s bundle of new releases, including Laphroaig, Caledonian, Ardmore and Miltonduff!

An eventful day here at That Boutique-y Whisky Company Headquarters (also known as TBWCHQ - it’s pronounced phonetically, in case you’re wondering). We’re unveiling four new bottlings, three of which are Batch 1s! Check ‘em out, folks!

The first first is a long-awaited release from a much-loved Islay distillery - it’s our very first bottling of Laphroaig single malt, aged for 12 years! On the label you’ll see Jon and Mike from LivingRoom Whisky, who years ago followed a mysterious message in a bottle and triumphed against worthy adversaries using their wits, skills and tasting prowess. If you were to go back in time with this bottle and use your knowledge of the past to best the duo, their image might fade from the label using the best special effects the 1980s had to offer. Or you might just invent rock and roll. Again.

The second first we’re presenting today is our Batch 1 of Caledonian single grain, which was aged for an impressive 33 years. The distillery sadly closed many moons ago, and has predominantly been replaced with apartments, but the massive chimney still stands to this day. The label of our Caledonian shows off the view from the top of said chimney - and it’s very pretty indeed. If you can name all of the Edinburgh landmarks on the label, you don’t win a prize, but you do get the warm fuzzy feeling of having knowledge inside of your brain.

The third first unveiled today is a single malt distilled by Ardmore which was aged for 10 years before we got our hands on it. This label features a detailed diagram of a cask, with all its parts labelled, from the chime hoop all the way to its bung cloth (the cask on this label clearly has a particularly musty bung cloth, hence why we have taken the liberty of noting that - knowledge is power).

Last but by no means least, we’ve also bottled a second batch of Miltonduff single malt! This time, we’ve bottled an 8 year old whisky chock full of apples and baking notes from the cherished distillery in Speyside - it’s pretty ace, for sure. Dick Beach, the MWP for Miltonduff in the Loch Ness Whisky Parliament (and proprietor of the excellent Fiddler’s Restaurant and Whisky Bar) once again adorns the label, cheering on Miltonduff along with more fans of the distillery. They also seem to be cheering on cheese in general. As you do.

A New Whisky From Speyside, and a New Speyside Whisky!

A New Whisky From Speyside, and a New Speyside Whisky!

As a Friday treat, we're letting you in on the scoop about our two new bottlings…

It’s Friday and we’ve got two new whiskies for you to look at with your head! It’s hard to get much better than that, unless you’ve got a ridiculous amount of cats wearing party hats. If you do have access to many cats wearing party hats, you should probably let us know so we can be friends.

Anyway, whisky! We’ve got a new batch of a popular Speyside whisky, as well as a Speyside whisky! Yes, you read that correctly. Yes, we were intentionally a little vague so we could make a joke. Yes, we will bloomin’ get on with it and show you the new whiskies.

So, up first is the first batch of single malt from the Speyside distillery! As you might be able to guess from the distillery’s name, the Speyside distillery is in the Speyside region. Yep, it’s Speyside in Speyside! This 15 year old whisky tastes like a dream, but rest assured, this is the real life. If it was a dream, you might not be able to tell unless you had a spinning top, though. #Meta

We’ve also bottled yet another batch of absolutely superb single malt from the Macallan distillery, also in the Speyside region! For Batch 6, we’ve bottled a 29 year old Macallan, boasting mixed berry and coffee notes from the rooftops. That last batch was amazing (as many have told us), and we reckon you’re going to love this one too.
