Five years ago today, we announced our first four bottlings. Today we have 100 labels and have released over 230 batches, and are as passionate as ever about bringing great whisky to you.
Our first four batches hailed from two open distilleries, Ardbeg, and Macallan, and two long closed: Caperdonich and Port Ellen. Earlier this year we released our sixth batch of Port Ellen, and our next batch of Macallan will be number 10.
Did you know that there are 95 long-established single malt distilleries in Scotland? There’s a further 18 that have started making single malt since 2000, too. We’ve now bottled 59 of those established distilleries – there’s still a few to we’d like to get our hands on, and we're already working on that so watch this space!
Over the last five years we’ve managed to get our hands on some fabulous casks from long closed distilleries, and have released single malts from Brora, Littlemill, Port Ellen, Caperdonich and Ayrshire. It’s not all been Scotch whisky though. We’ve bottled whisky from around the world too, with single malts from Australia, England, Germany, India, Ireland, The Netherlands, and Switzerland, plus bourbon and rye whiskey from the United States.
And let’s not forget the wonderful single grain whiskies. Six of the seven Scottish single grain distilleries have found their way into our bottles (Cameronbridge, Girvan, North British, Strathclyde, Invergordon and Loch Lomond). We’ve also released whisky from five of the seven recently closed distilleries too; Cambus, Caledonian, Carsebridge, Garnheath, and Port Dundas.
We’ve also tried our hand at blending with and have released three blended Scotch whiskies,, simply Blend #1, #2 and #3, and a handful of Blended Malts; from our ‘tea-spooned’ Blended Malts #1 and #3 to our true Blended Malt #2 and Islay Blended Malts #1 and #2
Accolades have been plentiful, and this year has been our most successful to date, We’ve picked up numerous awards at major competitions with a Gold Medal at this year’s San Francisco Spirits Competition for our Blended Whisky #1, Batch 5.
At The International Spirits Challenge ceremony the Trophy for the best Grain Whisky was awarded to our 43 Year Old Invergordon, Batch 11. Golds were awarded to our Irish Single Malt Batch 1, Blended Whisky #1 Batch 3, Blended Whisky #1, Batch 5, Blended Whisky #2 Batch 2, and Invergordon Batch 11. We picked up six silver medals too – quite the catch!
The International Wine & Spirits Competition saw our latest batch of Port Ellen awarded Gold Outstanding, while our Blended Whisky #3. Batch 1, and Glenturret Batch 2 also picked up Golds. Three Silver-Outstanding, three Silver, and one Bronze completed the haul.
And The Spirits Masters competitions yielded 3 Masters, one each for our Invergordon Batch 3, Blended Whisky #1 Batch 5, and Blended Malt #1 Batch 3, along with nine Golds and two silvers.
This year we’ve also released a number of batches for the US market, spreading the Boutique-y Whisky love around the world.
