ABOUT THIS BOTTLING
The 1976 British Isles heat wave led to the second hottest summer average temperature in the UK since records began. The ensuing drought would have seriously impacted the amount of whisky made that year.
1976 is when the the grain whisky in this blend was distilled.
Not only is this a 45 Year Old Blended Grain whisky, but it’s a blend of just two distilleries, both of them long closed, and one of the two, only operating for a very short period of around 22 years before it was closed.
Back in the mid 1970s Scotland had 12 grain whisky distilleries supplying their whisky to the hundreds of blends sold around the world.
The first, North of Scotland closed in 1980, the last, Port Dundas closed in 2010. This is a marriage of Carsebridge (closed in 1983), and North of Scotland, a distillery only around for 22 years.
NOSE
Gentle, with vanilla, white chocolate and a touch of coconut,. Fresh sawdust, tinned peaches. Icing sugar.
